Remembering Eric "ER" Robertson - Deacon 009

ER was a founding Member of the Deacons of Deadwood.  Before joining the Deacons, he rode with a loosely knit group called the Mag Seven, several of whom became Deacons.ER was a huge Ohio State sports fan and a huge NASCAR fan. When it came to hunting, he was the Grim Reaper. He had trophies from all over the world, the most recent of which was a 9’6” Alaskan Brown Bear. For a little guy he shot a lot of big animals.ER Liked to drink and sometimes fight. As he would say “I’m not scared.”  He had limited success in his fights, but he in fact was not afraid. One time ER had a chance to go to a World Series in New York. After the game, he happened to be in the restaurant where George Steinbrenner, the owner of the Yankees, was having dinner with his family. Before he could be stopped, he was sitting next to The Boss asking a friend to take a picture of Steinbrenner and him.  He told George that he had driven 24 hour strait to watch the game. Steinbrenner said “I love fans like you. Here’s my card.  If the Series comes back to New York, I’ll fly you up to watch the game with me in the Owner’s Box. Have your people call my people and we’ll set it up.ER replied “I don’t have any people!”ER had an engaging smile, a happy disposition, and was liked and loved by all who knew him.  He loved to watch sports and drink, and it caught up to him one afternoon.
