Children's Museum of Houston Latest Charity to Experience Deacons' Generosity

HOUSTON (May 31) -- A recent Saturday morning roared to life early for visitors in Houston's world-renowned Museum District as a couple dozen members of the renowned Deacons of Deadwood Motorcycle Club rode to the Children's Museum of Houston to make yet another donation to an area charity that serves kids."We are an all-volunteer organization that raises money for about 16 local children's charities, and this is one of the special ones we are proud to support," said Deacons of Deadwood President Geoff Seaman. "With more than 100-plus members, we strive to be a motorcycle club that truly makes an impact in our community, and we're thrilled to give the Children's Museum of Houston a check in the amount of $5,000. Hopefully it makes a little bit of a difference in what they are doing for our city."The Children's Museum of Houston, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization under the direction of a board of directors, delivers innovative learning opportunities to more than 1 million children each year. By transforming the community through innovative, child-centered learning, the Children's Museum of Houston aims to spark a passion for lifelong learning in all children.Dressed in their cutest biker attire, several children greeted the Deacons as they arrived for the check presentation and then proudly showed off the numerous bilingual learning centers and educational displays inside."What a wonderful group we have with the Deacons of Deadwood," said Tammie Kahn, Executive Director, Children's Museum of Houston. "We can all see they enjoy motorcycle riding, but these guys also do a lot of great things for the community, as we found out ourselves. The Deacons of Deadwood are making some very special opportunities available for kids in Houston with this donation."This gift will be used for some of the kiddos and the families in Houston who need the most support possible. These are folks that are living in a lot stress and they need to know there are good neighbors throughout Houston that care about them, that may not even know them personally but want their kids to have everything all of our kids have, and that is an opportunity for a great future."Thank you, Deacons of Deadwood, for joining with us and delivering this gift with these wonderful motorcycles. It's great to see you all and its great to be your community partner. Thank you."
