Deacons of Deadwood M/C Provide Marshalling and Present $18,000 Check to Boys and Girls Country
HOUSTON (April 14) -- It was a full day of giving for the renowned Deacons of Deadwood Motorcycle Club Saturday as they provided marshalling for Boys and Girls Country's third annual Pedal for a Purpose fundraiser just after donating a check to the organization themselves in the amount of $18,000.A registered 501(c)(3) charity, the Deacons of Deadwood have distributed more than $2.2 million to Houston-area children's charities since its inception in 2002."The Deacons have been wonderful friends to the Boys and Girls Country kids since the early 2000s," said Liz Bear, Community Outreach Manager. "We were thrilled to have them kick off the ride with a fantastic donation to our home, and we were very appreciative of the turn marshalling and route support they provided for our Pedal for a Purpose bike ride. They've helped with the bike ride since it started three years ago."Boys and Girls Country was founded in 1971 on two acres of land as Boys Country. Today, more than 100 children and young adults from families in crisis call Boys and Girls Country home. The organization's College and Career Campus, started in 1997, provides a home base to young adults who have graduated from high school while on campus and are transitioning to a two- or four-year college, trade school, the military or the workforce."Boys and Girls Country is one of the first charities our club started helping after our formation in 2002 so we have a long-standing relationship with everyone in that group," Deacon's liaison Dwayne Tuttle said. "Through our many visits to their home, we've seen first-hand the incredible work they do for the young people they help. We are honored to extend our relationship with Boys and Girls Country into 2017."The Deacons of Deadwood M/C boasts a diverse membership of executives and blue-collar workers bonded by a love of motorcycles and donating their time and talents to bettering their community. In 2017, the Deacons of Deadwood are proudly supporting Boys and Girls Country, Camp Quality, Child Advocates, Archway Academy, Children At Risk, Addi's Faith, Joe Joe Bear, Casa de Esparanza, Devereux Foundation, Mission Bend Christian Academy and Dream League.
