Mission Bend Christian Academy Receives $22,000 Donation from Deacons of Deadwood Motorcycle Club

HOUSTON (May 31) -- A large contingent of members from the Deacons of Deadwood Motorcycle Club recently rode to Mission Bend Christian Academy to present Head of School Dr. Wendy K. Lewis with a check for $22,000 that Lewis says will cover tuition for eight students in the coming school year. The donation raised the total money distributed by the 501(c)(3) charitable motorcycle club to $2.4 million in the 15 years since its inception."Mission Bend Christian Academy's vision is to meet the educational and spiritual needs of the children of our community regardless of their ability to pay," Dr. Lewis said. "The generosity of the Deacons of Deadwood the past three years has made it possible for more than 15 underprivileged children to attend our school. We are deeply grateful for the difference they are making in the lives of our precious children and their families."Today was truly an inspiring event and an example of what can happen when outstanding organizations selflessly partner together to help the children of our community."Mission Bend Christian Academy is dedicated to providing a loving environment that enables students to grow spiritually, academically, socially and physically. We all strongly believe in the mission of Mission Bend Christian Academy and are happy to help them reach their goals."A large gathering of students greeted the Deacons with streamers, posters and cheers of enthusiasm when they arrived on their motorcycles. Kindergartener David Sampson interviewed President Seaman for the crowd while other students sang songs and distributed handmade thank you notes to each member.First grader Lena Dobelmann offered a heartfelt prayer of thanksgiving just before students were treated to some special time with the Deacons, who showed off their motorcycles and allowed each child to sit on their motorcyclesMission Bend Christian Academy board member Joe Partain expressed gratefulness for the Deacons' gift, noting the money would be used for the "Tree of Life Fund," which currently provides tuition assistance based on need to 45-percent of the student body.
