Remembering Tom Murphy - Deacon 083

Tom Murphy was new to the Club and the Houston area in 2009. He moved here from the Midwest where he had worked in the car business holding many senior level positions, including General Manager, Sales Manager, Finance Manager and Parts Manager for new car dealerships. His last position was Finance Manager at the local Volvo dealership. He moved here with his wife, Becky, and shortly afterwards joined the Club. They both rode motorcycles and joined in on practically all local rides to Galveston, Kemah, the Hill Country, and wherever the Deacons wanted to get 150 – 250 miles in one day. He loved to ride and tell stories, and was happy to raise a beer to celebrate your health and good fortune. .Tom had not been a Member long before he contracted throat cancer. As his health diminished his participation in the Club dropped off. He was a private guy and did not want to burden us with his problems, even though we encouraged him to remain as active as he could. We only had Tom for a while, but he was a Deacon and is missed by those of us who knew him
