Deacons Award New Beck & Masten GMC Truck to Raffle Winner

HOUSTON (Nov. 2) -- The real winners of the recently held 15th annual Deacons of Deadwood Charity Ball are the 12 local children's charities that will receive big checks in the next few months from the philanthropic Houston-based motorcycle club that to date has donated more than $2 million to worthy causes.Part of the group's fundraising efforts for this year's charity ball was a successful raffle held for a brand-new Beck & Masten GMC pick-up truck. Every member in the club got involved in selling tickets and when the winning ducket was drawn at the stroke of midnight at this year's charity ball, it was Steve Fiscella of Houston who drove away with the grand prize."Steve, on behalf of the Deacons of Deadwood, we want to say thank you and congratulations on winning this awesome-looking GMC truck from our great friends and supporters at Beck & Masten GMC," said Deacons of Deadwood president Geoff Seaman during a fun-filled ceremony at the dealership. "I believe Jason Beck has a set of keys for you so we'll wish you all the best and safe driving on these Houston roads. Please watch out for motorcyclists!"Indeed, Jason Beck, the son of dealership co-founder John Beck, was eager to present Fiscella with one of the best-selling trucks in his fleet."It's neat to be involved with the wonderful charity work of the Deacons of Deadwood and really fun to meet the winner of the raffle in person," Jason Beck said. "We know you'll love this truck and we hope you tell all your friends you got it at Beck & Masten GMC.""The Deacons of Deadwood are a pretty incredible group and the fundraising they do year after year for all these Houston-area charities should be commended," Fiscella said. "As I humbly accept this truck and offer my thanks to Geoff and Jason, I would like to give the Deacons a check for $2,000 to add to the pot of money they will distribute in the coming year."Remarkably, the giving didn't stop there, as Seaman explained."It turns out Jason Beck was the winning bidder for the custom chopper we sold during the live auction," Seaman said. "He actually was just trying to help the cause by driving up the price but the bidding suddenly stopped and he ended up with it. Since he doesn't want the chopper for himself, he's just told me he's going to sell it on the open market and split the proceeds 50/50 with the club, so of course all of those proceeds will go directly into our charity pool. What an exceptional gesture."The 12 charities that will receive support from the Deacons of Deadwood in the coming months are Addis Faith, Archway Academy, Boys And Girls Country, Camp For All, Camp Quality Texas, Casa de Esperanza, Center For Success, Child Advocates, Children At Risk, Devereux, Dream League, and Mission Bend Christian Academy.
