Dream League Benefits From the Generosity of Deacons of Deadwood Motorcycle Club
SUGAR LAND, Texas (Feb. 27) -- The Deacons of Deadwood Motorcycle Club kicked off its 2017 season of giving with a $5,000 donation to the Dream League Saturday during Opening Day festivities for the First Colony Little League season.More than 20 members of the charitable M/C were on hand to present the check to Dream League Board Member Bruce Hicks, who accepted the donation on behalf of more than 100 Dream League players."The Dream League is ever-thankful for the Deacons of Deadwood, who have been our largest supporter for a number of years," Hicks said before an appreciative crowd of parents, players, family members, volunteers, and fans. "The Deacons make it possible for all of our special needs kids to play Little League baseball at no cost. This is a group of men with the biggest hearts imaginable."Established in 2007, the Dream League is a division of First Colony Little League supporting more than 100 physically and/or intellectually challenged players. The Dream League also boasts an "Angels in the Outfield" program, where approximately 150 teenagers from Fort Bend area schools volunteer to assist Dream League players during the game, becoming a loyal buddy in the process.Mark "Smoke" Graber, one of the club's vice presidents who also serves on the board, flanked by Charity Committeeman and Dream League liaison Fred "FredEx" Tyler, presented the check on behalf of the club with Tyler noting the total donations given by the Deacons of Deadwood to the Dream League is $35,000. Graber explained why the club continues to assist the cause."It's very rewarding for us to see the coaches, families and community come out and support these kids playing Little League baseball," Graber said. "This is our fifth year being involved and it just keeps getting better each season. Ultimately, these kids just want to be like all the other kids and have some fun playing America's pastime."We are honored to be a small part of what these great folks do. Opening Day was so much fun for all of us and it was a picture-perfect day in the great State of Texas. There were lots of smiles on that baseball diamond and plenty of them came from our members. Thank you to the Dream League for helping our brand become a part of their lives. Our club is all about assisting children in need, while exploring our passion for riding motorcycles, and we accomplished both of those goals Saturday."In 2017, the Deacons of Deadwood are proudly supporting Child Advocates, Archway Academy, Children At Risk, Addi's Faith, Joe Joe Bear, Camp Quality, Casa de Esparanza, Devereux Foundation, Mission Bend Christian Academy, Dream League, and Boys and Girls Country.The Deacons of Deadwood M/C boasts a diverse membership of executives and blue-collar workers bonded by a love of motorcycles and donating their time and talents to bettering their community. A registered 501(c)(3) charity, the Deacons of Deadwood have distributed $2.2 million to Houston-area charities since its inception in 2002.
